Job Summary
The manager of corporate partnerships & philanthropy role is an integral part of the development team, ensuring we are building and deepening meaningful, purpose-driven corporate partnerships that directly contribute to the success of KIPP DC students and alumni. The starting salary range for this role is $71,615-$85,256. This is a full time, occasional flexible  role based at KIPP DC’s Headquarters with an anticipated start date of December 2, 2024.

The KIPP DC Development Team plays a vital role in advancing the organization’s mission to ensure students are successful in college and beyond, by securing the necessary financial resources and cultivating key partnerships. Through strategic fundraising efforts, donor engagement, and stewardship of corporate and community relationships, the team ensures that KIPP DC's programs remain sustainable and impactful. By fostering long-term support and collaborating closely with internal teams, the Development Team drives initiatives that expand opportunities for KIPP DC students and alumni, enabling them to thrive academically and build successful futures.

KIPP DC’s Development Team is a part of the larger Advancement team, which is responsible for pushing KIPP DC forward by fundraising, partnerships, marketing, communications and more - all through building strong relationships and unleashing joy. It is the spark that keeps KIPP DC’s engine running!


About the Role
The Manager of Corporate Philanthropy & Partnerships (MCPP) plays a strategic role in KIPP DC Public Schools’ efforts to raise approximately $1M annually for KIPP DC and secure valuable resources and experiences for our students, alumni, and families. The MCPP leads KIPP DC’s efforts to develop comprehensive, outcomes-oriented partnerships with a dynamic scope of existing and prospective stakeholders including corporate partners, members of the business community, nonprofit partner organizations, city service providers, and volunteers.

Location and Type of Work
As a headquarters team that is focused on being responsive to our schools and meeting the needs of our students and families, we approach our work in a way that reflects these priorities. Schools operate in person and our students and families rely on us for in-person support, and this position will regularly provide on-site support to school teams, frequently partner with other headquarters teams, or regularly work in multiple locations. Because of the nature of the work, this role allows for occasional flexibility. This role will have approximately 20% flexibility to work remotely.

Responsibilities

Cultivation, Stewardship, and Program Execution (45%)

  • Secure nearly $1M in event and campus sponsorships, corporate grants, and in-kind services and resources annually via strategic fundraising and execution of a comprehensive operational plan.
  • Act as a visionary to build and manage systems for maximizing the impact of partner supporters and employee engagement.
  • Source and pursue new relationships and opportunities with external organizations.
  • Conduct excellent donor interactions and communications (i.e., events, program workshops, meetings, newsletters).
  • Prioritize key actions for executive and school leaders in cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding major donors, and support them through research, meeting briefs, emails, and calls.
  • Help maintain excellent relationships with current champions, including corporate partners, long-time major donors, and key volunteers and advisors.

Portfolio Management, Strategy and Planning: (30)%

  • Manage KIPP DC’s portfolio of corporate donors, community partners, local institutions, and prospects by developing and implementing a multi-year vision to achieve ambitious team and network-wide goals that ultimately drive impact and support student and alumni success.
  • Work closely with school leaders and program teams to identify school and programmatic needs while sourcing external partners who have the capacity, expertise, and motivation to best support these needs. 
  • Expand, enhance, and leverage our partner base by building a strong prospect pipeline, networking to expand the pool of prospective partners, developing tactical cultivation plans to get in front of high-level decision-makers, and writing compelling partnership proposals that will ultimately yield substantial contributions to KIPP DC.
  • Co-manage a portfolio of school-based grant initiatives through the Golden Opportunity Fund.
  • Co-manage KIPP DC’s Ambassador Board. 
  • Envision and build a comprehensive partnership model that provides resources, funding, or experiences for our students and alumni, while also deepening partner engagement and individual employee/member commitment to KIPP DC.

Development Operations & Management #3: 25%

  • Develop and maintain systems to communicate initiatives, progress to goals, and strategies across the Advancement team and to key stakeholders. 
  • Help maintain operational systems required to manage a high volume of donor cultivation, solicitation, reporting, and stewardship.
  • Analyze historical and market data to set ambitious yet feasible revenue, donor quantity, donor quality, and retention goals, and set interim benchmarks to ensure progress is made.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date gift records and donor data to track fundraising progress to goal.
  • Participate in KIPP DC and advancement team activities, including staff meetings, professional development conferences and retreats, fundraising events, and other public relations opportunities.

Requirements & Preferences

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience such as fundraising, building and maintaining major partnership relationships, youth services and/or in education
  • History of fundraising with an experience in moves management, donor cultivation, connecting fundraising with impact 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 6 or more years of relevant experience
  • Success in supporting and leading comprehensive giving programs and employee engagement.
  • Demonstrated success in raising funds from corporations and employee giving opportunities. 
  • Knowledge and familiarity with techniques and tools for prospect research.
  • Experience envisioning, directing, and executing marketing campaigns and events.
  • Proficiency in use of fundraising databases (Raiser's Edge, Salesforce, EveryAction) to track, report, and analyze donor data.
  • Proficiency in use of Google Suite

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to travel across KIPP DC schools
  • Flexibility to work outside normal business hours or weekends for KIPP DC events

KIPP DC offers an extremely competitive compensation and benefits package:

  • The anticipated starting salary range for this position is $71,615-$85,256. At KIPP DC we strive for clarity, equity, and to be highly competitive. When determining salaries we look at benchmarks in the education and non-profit sector.  
  • KIPP DC offers a robust benefits package including medical, dental, and vision insurances; various voluntary benefits; and employer paid benefits such as short term disability, long term disability, life insurance, and a membership to One Medical.
  • KIPP DC also offers a 403(b) retirement account with a 3% employer contribution and a 3% match with vesting after three years.
  • Currently, individuals in this role have up to 15 paid time off days, up to 10 paid sick days, and 12 paid holidays. This is subject to change and your exact schedule will be shared in your offer letter.
