Executive Operations Intern Job Summary
The Executive Operations Intern role is an integral part of the Executive Operations Team, ensuring the development of a storytelling narrative for KIPP DC's 25th anniversary. This is a non-exempt, fully onsite role based at HDQ with an anticipated start date of June 2, 2024. This person will conduct interviews to help create the narrative for the anniversary celebration.

About the RoleThis person will play a key role in documenting the history of KIPP DC in preparation for its 25th anniversary, conducting interviews and capturing videography to help create a compelling narrative. This work will connect directly to the Executive Operations Team's broader efforts to engage stakeholders, including funders, by sharing KIPP DC's impactful story and legacy.
This is a Non-Exempt position and will report to the Director of Executive Operations & Strategic Priorities.Location and Type of WorkAs a headquarters team that is focused on being responsive to our schools and meeting the needs of our students and families, we approach our work in a way that reflects these priorities. Schools operate in person and our students and families rely on us for in-person support which requires this position to be fully on-site. This role is currently required to be on-site or in schools during regular work hours. ResponsibilitiesDocumentation of KIPP DC's History (50%)- Conduct interviews with key stakeholders, including staff, alumni, and community partners.
- Capture video and written content to illustrate KIPP DC’s impact over the last 25 years.
- Collaborate with the communications team to ensure alignment with KIPP DC's messaging and brand.
- Organize and manage interview recordings and transcripts for easy access and future reference.
Narrative Creation for 25th Anniversary (20%)
- Analyze gathered materials and craft a compelling, cohesive narrative about KIPP DC's journey.
- Collaborate with the CEO to refine the narrative and ensure it meets strategic objectives.
- Develop content that will be shared with stakeholders, including funders, partners, and community members.
- Incorporate feedback from key stakeholders to improve and finalize the narrative.
Videography and Media Production (20%)
- Support video production efforts, including filming and editing video content for the 25th anniversary celebration.
- Work with the communications team to ensure high-quality visuals that align with the story being told.
- Create short clips and promotional videos for internal and external use.
Collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement (10%)
- Regularly engage with team members and key collaborators to ensure the project is on track.
- Coordinate with the development team to integrate the anniversary content into fundraising and engagement efforts.
- Participate in regular meetings with key stakeholders to provide updates and gather feedback on project progress.
Requirements & PreferencesRequired Qualifications (3-5):
- High School Diploma/GED Equivalent
- Currently enrolled in an undergraduate program (at least 1 year completed.)
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous Experience in multimedia Content Creation and Videography: Proven experience in creating compelling content, including video production, storytelling, and editing. Familiarity with videography tools, editing software (e.g., Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro), and content management platforms is highly preferred.
- Strong Communication Skills: Ability to conduct interviews, gather insights, and translate them into clear, engaging narratives that resonate with various audiences.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
- Ability to travel across KIPP DC schools, headquarters, and off-site meeting and event locations

Benefits & CompensationThe KIPP DC summer internship program offers a competitive hourly wage of $17.50, allowing you to gain valuable experience while earning a decent income. Interns are eligible to work up to 30 hours per week, providing flexibility to balance your work and personal life.
Please note that the program will follow the KIPP DC HDQ holiday calendar which includes two unpaid holidays: Juneteenth (June 19-June 20th) and the 4th of July, giving you time to celebrate and recharge.
