Job Summary
The Personalized Learning Team Summer Intern role is an integral part of the Personalized Learning team, ensuring that we are ready for back to school and the coming school year This is an intern, hybrid role, based at HDQ with an anticipated start date of June 2, 2025.

About the team
KIPP DC has an established and robust education technology program. Our students have 1-to-1 Chromebooks, our portfolio has over 50 programs and tools in use across grade levels, and we spend a lot of time talking about data. The personalized learning team is responsible for the selection, purchase, setup, training, implementation, and analysis of all of these programs. We ensure that KIPP DC students and teachers have the right programs available to them and know how to use them well.

About the Role
The graduate level PL team summer intern supports us in analysis of personalized learning program data for the closing school year and preparations for back to school and the coming school year, through specific projects focused on data analysis and resource development. The intern can expect to work in Asana, Zendesk, Google Workspace, Microsoft Excel, and Slack. If there is interest and experience, we can additionally involve the intern in coding projects and/or analysis in Tableau. This is a non-exempt position and will report to the director of personalized learning.

Location and Type of Work
As a headquarters team that is focused on being responsive to our schools and meeting the needs of our students and families, we approach our work in a way that reflects these priorities. This position will generally work independently and not regularly interface with students, families, or  school teams.  This position will primarily work from our headquarters office to maintain a connection to their colleagues and foster a sense of cross-functional collaboration. Because of the nature of this position’s work, this will allow for hybrid flexibility. This role will have approximately 50% flexibility to work remotely. ***but they can also be fully on-site if they prefer or fully remote

Responsibilities

Project management in Asana (15%)

  • Learn how to use Asana including for tracking individual tasks, creating and managing projects, and tracking goals
  • Create Asana projects for all of your summer projects
  • Actively contribute to other Asana projects as a collaborator with the rest of the PL team and other information sub-teams

Efficacy Analysis for PL programs (50%)

  • Review historical efficacy analysis at KIPP DC
  • Review existing and historical PL portfolio
  • Design efficacy analyses for previous school year data
  • Design any needed historical efficacy analyses to fill in knowledge gaps
  • Execute all efficacy analyses
  • Create collateral to share learnings with non-data people in easy to understand formats such as infographics, 1-pagers, and PowerPoints/Slides
  • Present your findings to interested stakeholders, in collaboration with the entire PL team

ROI Analysis for PL programs (20%)

  • Design ROI analyses for previous school year data
  • Execute all ROI analyses
  • Create collateral to share learnings with non-data people in easy to understand formats such as infographics, 1-pagers, and PowerPoints/Slides
  • Present your findings to interested stakeholders, in collaboration with the entire PL team
  • Develop replicable analysis format so that ROI analyses can be easily repeated in the future

Back to school support (15%)

  • Review data in Google Analytics for multiple internal resource websites, suggest improvements to current sites, update once approved, in collaboration with the rest of the PL team
  • Manually update rosters in various PL programs, in collaboration with Data Engineer
  • Other tasks, as needed


Requirements & Preferences

Required Qualifications:

  • Graduate student, with focus area in data science, data analytics, business analytics, information technology or related field
  • Ability to work independently in fast paced environment
  • Project management 
  • Strong data analytics background and skills
  • Experience through class projects, independent work, internships, or paid work will be considered

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced data science/analysis background
  • Interest in education data needs
  • Experience sharing analysis with non-data people
  • Advanced PowerPoint/Google Slides
  • Infographic or 1-pager creation experience
  • Bonus: website data analysis, ROI analysis

Benefits & Compensation

The KIPP DC summer internship program offers a competitive hourly wage of $17.50, allowing you to gain valuable experience while earning a decent income. Interns are eligible to work up to 30 hours per week, providing flexibility to balance your work and personal life. 

Please note that the program will follow the KIPP DC HDQ holiday calendar which includes two unpaid holidays: Juneteenth (June 19-June 20th) and the 4th of July, giving you time to celebrate and recharge.
