Associate Director of Student Information (High School) Job Summary
The Associate Director of Student Information role is an integral part of the Student Information team, ensuring the integrity of student information in KIPP DC’s student information systems (SIS). The starting salary range for this role is $103,491-$114,384. This is a full-time, occasionally flexible role based at HDQ with an anticipated start date of July 8, 2025.

About the RoleThe Associate Director of Student Information (High Schools) plays an integral leadership role in establishing and implementing procedures for ensuring the integrity of student information in KIPP DC’s student information systems (SIS). This position manages a subteam of SIS specialists and interns, and works closely with users and stakeholders at all levels of the organization to ensure the efficient and accurate management of student information data, enrollment data, school and class rosters, and master schedules. This work is critical for ensuring that such student information is able to be leveraged by instructional leaders, school staff, and the data team to make student-focused decisions, and that the external reporting of this data is fully accurate.Location and Type of WorkAs a headquarters team that is focused on being responsive to our schools and meeting the needs of our students and families, we approach our work in a way that reflects these priorities. Schools operate in person and our students and families rely on us for in-person support, and this position will regularly provide on-site support to school teams, frequently partner with other headquarters teams, or regularly work in multiple locations. Because of the nature of the work, this role allows for occasional flexibility and will be required to be onsite 4 days per week.ResponsibilitiesTeam Leadership (30% of time)
- Serve as a people manager to student information data specialists at the high schools.
- Serve as a leader in KIPP DC’s high school space by connecting with Instructional Leadership Team, Student Support Team, Compliance Team and other stakeholders.
- Represent KIPP DC’s Information team with external partners in DC, such as The Office of the State Superintendent of Education and Public Charter School Board, and with other regional leaders.
- Collaborate within and across teams to ensure student information-related needs are met.
- Provide effective feedback to direct reports and peers for improvement.
- Communicate best practices and solutions to common challenges across schools.
- Travel to school sites to build relationships and assess strengths and needs.
Systems Integration and Project Management (30% of time)
- Lead the implementation of Timely Master Scheduler/PowerScheduler, the high school master schedule tool.
- Lead the rostering and scheduling work for the entire KIPP DC network, with particular focus on the alignment of master scheduling at the PK-8 bands across the network and at the high school band in compliance with state graduation requirements.
- Establish the processes and systems needed to ensure the accurate, consistent treatment of grades and manage student information data specialists for the rollout of report cards and transcripts at the end of each reporting term across KIPP DC.
- Define PK-8 student information objectives and translate into actionable plans and timelines.
- Oversee the daily use of Powerschool, Powerteacher, and Powerschool Parent Portal for student information management, attendance, enrollments, class schedules, etc.
- Prioritize and manage SIS support requests around student information through Zendesk.
- Proactively identify and resolve potential issues in the SIS to meet organizational needs for all end users
- Execute data security protocols that defines which users have access to student information
Data Collection and Data Quality Control (20% of time)
- Develop the processes and systems needed to ensure accurate, consistent data collection and maintenance of student information in the SIS.
- Define organizational standards for data quality.
- Audit information, correct errors, and build skills in users as necessary to proactively prevent future errors.
- Assist the Information team as needed to ensure that the reporting of student information to external stakeholders (such as OSSE and PCSB) is accurate and correct.
- Collaborate across teams to implement accountability strategies that motivate accurate data collection.
Process Documentation and Training (20% of time)
- Document the practices, protocols, and systems developed for the SIS in order to ensure consistent and accurate practices going forward.
- Creates documentation to be shared externally through the Central Resource Center (CRC).
- Execute onboarding orientations for all new staff and teachers in collaboration with the talent team and provide year-round trainings for school leaders and all school-based staff to effectively use the SIS and gradebook.
Requirements & PreferencesRequired Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Minimum of 5 years of professional work experience with at least 4 years of work experience in a student information system or database management
- 2+ years of people management experience
- Outstanding project management and organizational skills, and extraordinary attention to detail
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in school or school district
- Experience with Powerschool
- Proficiency in use of computers and software such as Microsoft Excel, SQL, and database systems
- Experience working with multiple stakeholders, partners, and audiences.
Physical Requirements
- In this role, regular travel to school sites is necessary to build relationships with school-based staff and team
