The Managing Director of School Support and Service role is an integral part of the Operations team, ensuring that schools are fully enrolled and compliant with all local and federal laws and regulations. The starting salary range for this role is $137,746-$152,245. This is a full time, occasional flexible role based at HDQ with an anticipated start date of August 2025.

About the RoleThe Managing Director of School Support and Services leads the vision, strategy, and coordination of KIPP DC’s health, enrollment, and compliance programs, ensuring alignment with Office of the State Superintendent of Education and Public Charter School Board regulations while fostering a consistent and family-centered experience across schools. Reporting to the Vice President of Operations, this role manages Associate Directors and Directors, collaborating with academic teams and other stakeholders to align non-instructional school-based staff, including operations, health, and enrollment teams, to meet organizational goals and compliance requirements.
As a Managing Director, this position must also ensure adherence to established internal control policies and procedures and maintain compliance within the organization. This is an exempt position and will report to the Vice President of Operations. Location and Type of WorkAs a headquarters team that is focused on being responsive to our schools and meeting the needs of our students and families, we approach our work in a way that reflects these priorities. Schools operate in person and our students and families rely on us for in-person support, and this position will regularly provide on-site support to school teams, frequently partner with other headquarters teams, or regularly work in multiple locations. Because of the nature of the work, this role allows for occasional flexibility and will be required to be onsite 4 days per week.ResponsibilitiesKey Responsibilities - The percentages for each key responsibility are estimates. Flexibility and responsiveness are encouraged to accommodate organizational needs.Team Leadership and Management (35%)- Lead vision-setting and goal development for the compliance, health, student recruitment and enrollment team, managing progress toward goals and ensuring team accountability.
- Directly manage sub-team leaders, coaching and developing associate directors to become effective managers and leaders.
- Lead the development and execution of an ongoing cadence of training and professional development for school-based non-instructional teams, promoting collaboration and alignment across sub-teams.
- Onboard new team members, set individual goals, and provide regular coaching, feedback, and support to drive professional growth.
- Unite team members to identify areas for improvement and innovation, fostering a positive and productive team culture.
- Step in to fill critical gaps identified by compliance or health sub-teams, such as leading the onboarding or training process for new initiatives.
Enrollment Strategy Development and Execution (30%)- Manage the Director of Student Recruitment in developing and executing student recruitment strategies in partnership with the Communications team, ensuring all open seats are filled by the My School DC deadline.
- Manage the Director of School Support and Service on developing and executing re-enrollment campaigns, including strategies for high school transitions, and provide tools and guidance to ensure enrollment targets are met.
- Consult with Finance and Academic teams on annual enrollment targets, submitting updates through the Public Charter School Board Hub as required.
- Lead the design and maintenance of an enrollment tracking system, regularly reporting progress to the Executive Team and other stakeholders.
Strategic Planning (15%)- Develop and articulate a strategic vision for student recruitment and enrollment, health, and compliance, aligning with KIPP DC’s mission and organizational priorities.
- Set annual and long-term goals for school support services, ensuring alignment with compliance requirements and organizational objectives.
- Manage the development of the LEA Test Integrity plan, ensuring adherence to Office of the State Superintendent of Education requirements, including training test coordinators and monitoring testing processes.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to assess operational effectiveness and identify areas for innovation and improvement.
- Analyze data and stakeholder feedback to inform strategic decisions and improve program outcomes.
Collaboration with Other Leaders and Teams (10%)- Collaborate with Finance, Operations, Data, Student Information, and Academic teams on cross-functional processes and initiatives, including defining and refining KIPP DC’s student recruitment and enrollment, health, and compliance strategies
- Serve as the primary point of contact to coordinate with executive team leaders on progress related student recruitment and enrollment, health, and compliance strategies
- Build and maintain relationships with student recruitment and enrollment, health, and compliance leaders across KIPP’s national network and within Washington, DC.
- Ensure senior leaders have appropriate meeting structures and touchpoints to monitor and execute strategies effectively.
General Project Management (10%)- Lead high-stakes projects related to student recruitment and enrollment, health, and compliance, ensuring effective planning, execution, and communication.
- Support cross-functional teams by coordinating and executing special projects as needed to meet organizational priorities.
Requirements & PreferencesRequired Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree
- At least 10 years of professional work experience
- Experience managing multiple people and/or teams to meet ambitious goals
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced degree in a relevant area
- 5 years experience in K-12 systems
- 2 years experience with student recruitment, enrollment, health, and/or compliance
- Experience managing budgets of $500K+
- Strong analytical and problem solving capabilities
- Proven project management skills as it relates to the creation of different systems and structures
- Ability to think strategically and creatively to solve big picture problems
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
