Associate Director of School Support & Compliance - Internal Only Job Summary
The Associate Director of School Support & Compliance role is an integral part of the School Support & Service team, ensuring that KIPP DC schools are fully enrolled and in compliance with a full spectrum of federal and state requirements. The starting salary range for this role is $94,082-$103,984. This is a full-time role with occasional flexibility based at headquarters with an anticipated start date of July 2025.

About the RoleThe Associate Director of School Support and Service is a leadership team member on the School Support and Service Team. The Associate Director is responsible for the management and development of four members of the KIPP DC School Support and Service team and ensures accurate documentation and management of matters related to compliance with a full spectrum of federal and state requirements at the four campuses they oversee. As a leadership team member, they will partner closely with other regional teams to coordinate compliance efforts and communicate updates on behalf of the team.Location and Type of WorkThis is an exempt position and will report to the Managing Director of School Support & Service. As a headquarters team that is focused on being responsive to our schools and meeting the needs of our students and families, we approach our work in a way that reflects these priorities. Schools operate in person and our students and families rely on us for in-person support, and this position will regularly provide on-site support to school teams, frequently partner with other headquarters teams, or regularly work in multiple locations. Because of the nature of the work, this role allows for occasional flexibility and will be required to be onsite 4 days per week.ResponsibilitiesPeople Management (40% of the time)
Management and development of multiple members of the KIPP DC School Support and Service team.
- Onboard team members to the role and organization
- Support of individual growth and development through coaching support for all team members including observation, feedback and performance review processes
- Lead and facilitate professional development and regular team meetings to align team members and introduce cross-sector work and updates
- Support and guide Compliance Manager relationships with school leaders and families as needed
Compliance Workstream Management (40% of the time)
- Collaborate with the Managing Director, and other team leaders, on team initiatives, including revising policies and protocols that impact the compliance team workstream and ensuring all campuses are in compliance with responsible workstreams, and various other named requirements
- Manage and support all workstreams such as:
- Student Health: Ensure network-wide compliance with student immunization and health certificate guidelines by developing strategies, managing data systems, collaborating on outreach, managing family communications, supporting school-level compliance efforts, and coordinating mobile health clinics.
- OSSE Test Coordination: Ensure test integrity and compliance by coordinating testing at elementary and middle schools, designing protocols aligned with state regulations, managing online systems, developing training, documenting irregularities, collaborating on accommodations, conducting observations, and providing ad hoc support.
- Manage the enrollment review workflow, serve as the My School DC point of contact, ensure data accuracy for audits and applications, monitor adherence to deadlines, conduct quality control checks, and partner with the Office of the State Superintendent of Education on investigations and audit logistics.
Leadership on the School Support Team (20% of the time)- Represent school support and service work stream and collaborate with, other functional leaders and teams, particularly the student information team, data, communication and academic teams and school leaders
- Maintain quality control of documentation for enrollment, immunization and health purposes to ensure efficacy to Office of the State Superintendent of Education’s requirements
- Communicate organizational, compliance and audit updates and next steps with managers so that they can incorporate it into their work, for example, Office of the State Superintendent of Education policy updates that will be important for school leaders or families to understand
- Lead by example to create and reinforce positive and productive team culture including supporting and covering team members and a regular school visit schedule – and to center students and families in these processes
Requirements & PreferencesRequired Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree
- At least 7 years of experience in compliance related experience with three of those years involving work with schools and principals
- At least 2 years of people management experience with evidence of development and coaching responsibilities
- Flexibility, tenacity, ability to produce high-quality work, resourcefulness, and willingness to work well with a team
- Unquestioned integrity and commitment to KIPP DC’s mission and to advancing its anti-racist ambition through their work with staff, students, alumni, and families
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with PowerSchool, DeansList
- Experience facilitating team meetings, staff training
- Mastery of Google Suite, Microsoft Excel and ability to master new technology systems necessary for the job
- Strong communication skills with the demonstrated ability to solve complex customer service problems
